The first week of classes was such a drag, I had no assignments or work to do. I would usually go out to do some shopping or head to the falls but I decided to stay home this time and read up on some articles and posts on Reddit. I then happen to come across a pretty fantastic interactive graphic on the r/internetisbeautiful subreddit. Its called “The Deep Sea” by Neal Agarwal (www.neal.fun/deep-sea/). It’s a very nicely designed graphic of all the objects and life present underwater.
Scrolling down the page, Makes you dive into the ocean and discover all the treasures that it has to offer. As you go down the page there is an indicator that shows you how many meters deep you are in the ocean which is pretty cool. It also shows you the name of each zone in the ocean as you go deeper such as the “Midnight zone” which apparently has no sunlight. You also come across random facts about the sea creatures that reside in those depths, and also the events that occurred. For example, at 3,800 meters you come across the HMS Titanic’s final resting place.
Deep down at 9,400 meters, we come across Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh onboard their submarine Trieste and their quest to descend down the deepest point on earth, the Mariana Trench. We descend down with them while coming across more facts and the life that inhabits those depths and then finally come to an end to our deep-sea adventure. The whole interactive experience is very engaging, and you get move on your own pace and enjoy the sights as you go through it. I highly recommend this online display to all my readers, I’m sure that you will come across some very intriguing facts and discoveries.
