Allision Arieff’s article “Automated Vehicles Can’t Save Cities”(https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/02/27/opinion/automated-vehicles-cant-save-cities.html) on The New York Times is the best thing that I’ve read this week. The article is about the author’s opinion on automated vehicles and that they are not the solution to urban problems such as traffic congestion and emission but rather make them worse.
What strikes me the most about this article is the way it is formatted. The article is shown left to right and is navigated by clicking on the left side of the page. And every page only has 1-2 sentences which makes it much more engaging. The article includes graphs and videos to strengthen its opinion. The articles the main point is that today cities are designed for the transport of cars and rolling out even more cars would not fix problems such as congestion and emission rather Public transportation will.
I feel that this article is a departure from the traditional structure of most web articles I have seen and can get its point accross very quickly and very effectively.
